Controversies

• The biggest
controversy in his career was that of the Gujarat riots in 2002, in which he
was criticized for leading it. However, on December 11, 2019, the
Nanavati-Mehta Justice Commission gave him a free kick in the 2002 riots in
Gujarat. The Gujarat government presented the last part of the Nanavati-Mehta
Justice Commission report on the 2002 riots in the Assembly on December 11,
2019. The report addresses post-Godhra violence in which more than 1,000
people were killed in widespread community riots throughout the state. The
commission gave a free kick to the then Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and
others in riots after Godhara. The Commission discovered that the riots were
not organized and that the state administration had taken all necessary
measures to control the situation. [one]
